McCarthy's Great Room
"Seachd: The Inaccessible Pinnacle" is a 2007 Scottish Gaelic feature film by first-time director, Simon Miller, from a story by Simon Miller and Joanne Cockwell. It stars Patrick Morrison/Pàdruig Moireasdan and the Gaelic writer and poet Angus Peter Campbell/Aonghas Pàdraig Caimbeul.
Filming began in April 2006 around the Inaccessible Pinnacle at the top of Sgurr Dearg in the Cuillin mountains on the Isle of Skye in Scotland and was completed in August 2006. The film screened at the Celtic Media Festival in March 2007 and made its world premiere at the 61st Edinburgh International Film Festival in August 2007. Released in October 2007, the film received nominations for best actor (Angus Peter Campbell), best film and best screenplay at the BAFTA Scotland Award.

I was honored to attend and play at the SEISUNS (sessions) at McCarthy’s Great Room this past Thursday (May 21st). What a great group of talented people!!! When my wife & I went to Ireland in 2007 I searched but could not find what I experienced at McCarthy’s. Whatever music we did find in Ireland was good (naturally), but catered to the tourists. We were a bit disappointed. The “down home” flavor just wasn’t there as it was at May’s Seisun at McCarthy’s (perhaps in Ireland we just didn’t know where to look). Anyway, I will definitely be at June’s Seisun,….only I beleive it will be on the Second Thursday of the month instead of the usual Third Thursday. It will be everything you’d expect,…and more. It was for me.

you have the Celtic Fling scheduled for Sun & Mon 6/28 & 29 instead of the correct Sat & Sun 6/27 & 28!
in Sept you don’t even list the dates for your own fest!

Sorry for the Celtic Fling mix up. It’s been corrected. We’re still playing catch up on a lot of things here at CCA and now Celtic Classic is finally on the calendar too. We’re also in the process of bringing July’s calendar up to date.

The Celtic Classic web page is still under construction and should hopefully be up very soon. We have some great acts coming to the festival this year, stay tuned.
